Class 2 Rigid Lorry

If you would like to drive a Rigid vehicle (no flexibility between cab and trailer, like the picture on the left) weighing more than 7.5t but less than 32t, then you need obtain a LGV Category C (or Class 2) licence.

This is the most common LGV licence and it is usually the one required if you want to work in logistics, distribution, commercial deliveries, if you are a scaffolder, recovery driver or own a big horsebox.

If you wish to progress to the C+E / Class 1 Articulated lorries, you would have to start with the Cat C / Class 2 Rigid but you can complete a Back to Back Double Category package at a discounted price.

Class 1 Artic Lorry

A Class 1 or C+E licence would allow you to drive vehicle up to 44t, either Articulated (tractor and trailer) or draw bar (Rigid lorry + trailer).

If you only hold a car licence, but your ultimate goal is to be able to drive the C+E / Class 1 Articulated lorries, you would have to start with the Cat C / Class 2 Rigid but you can complete a Back to Back Double Category C and C+E package at a discounted price.

If you already have the Cat C / Class 2 licence and you wish the progress to the C+E / Class 1, you have to complete a 1 week practical training course & driving test - no theory element required.
